August 2011: Dale Henson, of San Jose CA, used this technology to enable wireless control of tension on a spinning wind head powered by a rotary transformer as designed by a former satellite design engineer. The wireless communication allows tension set points to be changed remotely while the new system maintains the linked servo loops necessary to maintain tension accuracies of +/- 1 gram down to a value of 5 grams. This new system can also communicate using Modbus or Ethernet for use in the 503 model coil winders.
